PSL in Pakistan
PSL in Pakistan
Syed Muhammad Hassan Naqvi
As we all know that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is holding an event, Pakistan Super League (PSL). This event is like other events including Indian Premier League (IPL) or Caribbean Premier League. Number of players on nation base and International base are participating in it.
After the attack on Sri-Lankan cricket team back in 2009, arranging any event of International cricket was great challenge for PCB and Government of Pakistan. Major teams of cricket world avoid visiting Pakistan due to security measures. On other hand same teams are agreed to play with Pakistan either on their home grounds or in UAE.
The point which is to be highlighted is that PSL is presently happening in UAE. Question is “Why in UAE? Why not in Pakistan?” Is security issue will be the answer? The government is showing its own effort to resolve the issue of Terrorism. However, they have much covered the part. In today’s date still security threat would be issue for the international players and board to play in Pakistan. Certainly not, because terrorism is common issue all over the world. This doesn’t mean any sort of game would be avoided to entertain the people.
PSL is gaining popularity day by day among the cricket lovers all around the world. What if next PSL to be held within Pakistan. Government of Pakistan should arrange proper and stabilized form of security for all players coming from other countries to participate. This will be the great step to bring sponsors to the country. This will bring business to the country on the large scale.
Another advantage of PSL is to encourage new talent from new areas to be part of cricket world. Most of the time we have seen that players playing in different teams are mostly from Punjab or KPK or Sindh. Recently “Quetta Gladiators” playing in PSL have most of its player from Punjab or Karachi. We have to encourage new talent to come up. Especially from Kashmir and Gilgit-Biltistan. Likewise other areas these areas are also part of Pakistan. And teams of these areas should participate in such events.
Now it is the responsibility of PCB and Government of Pakistan to have a look on these issues. These issues could be solved if they would be interested. Cricket would be back to Pakistan and similarly economy will be stable when sponsors will come to Country. Being a Pakistani I want International Cricket back in Pakistan.
