Rahat Fateh Ali Deported from India
NEW DELHI: World renowned Pakistani Star Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was refused entry and deported from India on Thursday due to technical reasons as soon as he touched down in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
Rahat Fateh was barred from entering the country particularly through that airport and was asked to return to Abu Dhabi.
He had arrived India to perform at a New Year eve event at the iconic Taj Falaknuma Palace.
Immigration authorities at RGIA attributed Rahat's deportation to "technical flaws".
Indian immigration rules say any Pakistani national can't enter India through Hyderabad; the legal ports of entry by air are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Later in the evening, Rahat Fateh Ali took a flight to Delhi from Abu Dhabi and then boarded a chartered flight to Hyderabad from the national capital.
