Intel-Based Raid Leave One Militant Killed and 12 Arrested
QUETTA: One suspected militant was killed and another arrested with injuries after an encounter in a suburban area of the city on Monday. Three security personnel were also injured.
Security forces foiled an attempt to attack a convoy of soldiers by defusing a bomb planted along a road in Sangsilla area of Dera Bugti.
On a tip-off about the presence of wanted militants, official sources said, police and personnel of an intelligence agency conducted a joint operation in Kili Geo in a suburb of Quetta.
The militants opened fire at the raiding personnel which they retaliated. In the ensuing gunbattle, a suspected militant was killed and another injured and arrested.
Three members of the raiding party also suffered injuries.
The injured were taken to hospital.
A spokesman for the Frontier Corps said that paramilitary personnel arrested four suspected members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan during a raid on their hideout in the mountainous area on the outskirts of Zhob.
They were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.
“Security forces have recently killed and arrested several members of the TTP who came to Zhob and Loralai areas after the launch of Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan,” a security official claimed.
Meanwhile, police arrested a suspect militant, Shaheen Marri, during a raid in the Marri Camp area of Quetta.
Security forces took six suspects into custody during raids in Quetta and Noshki areas. They are being interrogated, the sources said.
