QUETTA: At least seven people were killed and more than twenty four injured as a passenger coach collided with a trailer in Balochistan's Gwadar district on Wednesday.

Levies officials said that a Karachi-bound passenger coach, which had departed from Jewani, collided with a trailer in Ormara area of Gwadar district leaving seven people dead and around two dozen others injured.

Law enforcement agencies soon reached Ormara and took the trailer and passenger coach in their custody.

Levies officials claimed that the accident occurred due to over-speeding by the coach's driver, who then lost control of his vehicle and collided with a trailer coming from the opposite direction

Those wounded in the fatal mishap were rushed to nearby hospital in Jewani where an emergency was declared. Eight of the injured were shifted to Karachi due to their critical condition and lack of proper facilities in local hospitals.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
