Flood Alert! Take note of PMDA Numbers and Security Measures as Heavy Rain and Flood Anticipated
The Balochistan government has put Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on high alert; flash floods are expected that might be caused by heavy rains in different parts of the province.
According to a handout issued here on Saturday, PDMA Balochistan has made its control at commissioner offices and deputy commissioner offices functional. People can contact at phone numbers of PDMA control room 081-2881168 and 081-9241133 and fax-081-9241126 and 081-9241132.
Heavy rain coupled with hailstorm lashed major parts of Balochistan including Quetta valley on Friday which lowered the temperature.
According to Met office, Balochistan’s districts including Kalat, Mastung, Sibi, Nasirabad, Chaghi, Turbat, Gwadar, Awaran, Washuk, Khuzdar, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah & Saifullah, Harnai, Ziarat, Barkhan, Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Loralai, Kholu, Dera Bugti, Bolan, Nasirabad, Jhal Magsi, Quetta and Jaffrabad districts received heavy rains.
Several mud houses were damaged due to rain in Dalbandin area of Chaghi district.
The rain and filthy water accumulated on roads in Quetta city including Double Road, Imadad Road, Jinnah Road, Prince Road and other road causing difficulties for pedestrians while vehicles were stuck on the road.
In some areas, electricity supply was suspended in rain. Some residents of Quetta moved to different parts of the capital to enjoy the rainy weather. However, the rain on the fourth consecutive day created delight among farmers and growers in the province.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri directed authorities concerned to take immediate measures for cleanliness and draining out the rainwater. The Met office has predicted more rain and cloudy weather during 24 hours in different districts of Balochistan.
