Federal Tax Ombudsman asked FBR to Immediately Release Funds
ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to release refunds of taxpayers immediately.
FTO observed a delay of 38 days in processing of refund claims of the complainant, filed through electronic payment of refund through STAAR software system for tax periods July and August 2014.
The ombudsman further observed that delay beyond prescribed time was tantamount to mal-administration.
The FTO passed the order on the complaint of one M/S Descon Oxychem Ltd, Lahore.
In its order, FTO recommended the FBR to direct the concerned chief commissioner to process pending refund claims of the complainant immediately; and pay additional amount as compensation in case of delay.
The ombudsman asked for the compliance report within 10 days.
