Former PM Shaukat Aziz Summoned in Treason Case
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned former prime minister Shaukat Aziz in connection with the high treason case.
As per details, FIA on Wednesday issued summons for Shaukat Aziz to appear on January 4th 2016 and record his statement in the case.
In Oct 2015, a special court was constituted for the hearing of Pervez Musharraf’s treason case, indicated to start proceedings against former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, and former law minister Zahid Hamid as co-accused and adjourned the hearing till the last week of November. The two-member bench of the special court was headed by Justice Faisal Arab that heard the case.
According to FIA sources, head of the FIA’s joint investigation team Wajid Zia had written a letter to the Shaukat Aziz in this regard. They added that Shaukat Aziz has confirmed to the FIA that he has received the letter.
