Maulana Masood Azhar of JEM is under 'Protective Custody'
LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday confirmed that Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) chief Moulana Masood Azhar is put under 'Protective Custody' of Counter Terrorism Department.
Though Pakistani Foreign Office to have said earlier that it was unaware if JeM chief was arrested or taken into protective custody, Rana Sanaullah, while talking to DAWN News TV anchor Mehar Abbasi confirmed his protective custody.
When asked if Masood Azhar’s protective custody could be changed into arrest on Indian demand, Rana Sanaullah said that we will act according our local laws and if there would be reasonable evidences against JeM chief we would not only arrest him but also try him in Pakistani courts.
India had given a report to Pakistan against the attack on Airbase at Pathankot, confirming JEM's involvment in the incident. Pakistan has assured India of its support and since then a number of JEM seminaries and offices have been raided with multiple arrests made.
