Seven Passengers Killed with Eight Injured in Azad Kashmir

BATTAGRAM: A passenger pickup plunged into a roadside gorge killing at least seven passengers and injuring eight in the Bakila union council area of Azad Kashmir on Saturday.

Allai UC District Councillor Qudus Khan said a Datsun pickup carrying over 15 passengers, with several of them hanging on the sides, was on its way to Bana headquarters from Kandao area on Saturday morning when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall several hundred feet down the ravine.

As a result, four of the passengers were killed on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries after arriving at Ban Civil Hospital.

Rescue workers were busy shifting bodies and the injured to the hospital, while three critically injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, Khan added.

Earlier on Monday, at least six people were killed in different incidents across Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
