SWABI: Awami National Party could easily form the next government in the district and tehsil Razaar while in tehsil Swabi and tehsil Chota Lahor there would be a coalition government lead by any political party.

Sources in the ANP said here on Sunday the ANP leadership is very happy over giving an ignominious defeat to its arch rival, Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan, led by senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai.

“It was a big boost for ANP and big defeat for AJIP in its home district,” said Red Shirt leaders. In the 56 union councils, ANP has won from 22 and two independent candidates have joined them.

The Jamait Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal), a coalition partner of ANP has won seven union councils and two independent members had joined them. The total strengthen of the two parties has reached to 31 and they were in position to form a strong coalition government.

The ANP leaders had given green signal to JUI (F) to form its government in tehsil Chota Lahor.

In the 11 members of tehsil councillors, ANP and JUI (F) each has won two, PTI and independent candidates are three each and one councillor belongs to AJIP. JUI (F) district Chief Maulana Attaul Haq said that the independents candidates are expected to join them after consultation with their workers and the PML-N also expressed readiness to support them.

In the Tehsil Topi, ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf bagged majority of councilor seats. PTI has won from union council Topi east, Batakara, Kotha, Zarobai, Diwal and Manini. Two of the JUI (F) tehsil councillors have also expressed readiness to support PTI, masking our total strength to eight in the house of 11. There are four are elected tehsil independent councilors in tehsil Topi.

The situation in tehsil Swabi union council is highly confused. Total strength is 14. Here ANP has two councillors, PTI three, JUI (F), PPP, QWP, PML-N each one, JI three and AJIP two.

The consensus in ANP meeting was that they wanted to form a coalition government in Tehsil Swabi but they admitted that it might not be an easy task. However, it has been very clear that there would be coalition government.

In 20 members’ tehsil council of tehsil Razaar, ANP has won 12 and it could easily form its government in the tehsil which has dominated by AJIP leaders since 2005.

Observers here said that if ANP also succeeds to form government in tehsil Swabi along with district and tehsil Razaar government, it would be a thumping comeback for the party in its stronghold, posing serious threat to the ruling parties.
