A helicopter transporting Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to Shakar Dara, Kohat lost its aerial path and was disconnected from the traffic control tower for an hour on Friday. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Meethakhel, Karak.

Khattak was invited by Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi to Shakar Dara. The CM was also accompanied by K-P Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Special Assistant to CM Amjad Afridi, MPA Gul Sahib Khan Khattak and other senior bureaucrats.

A government official confirmed the helicopter lost its path and left its destination approximately 70 kilometres behind. He added the chopper made an emergency landing when it reached Meetha Khel in Karak. The helicopter was then refueled and arrived at its destination in Kohat an hour later.

In his address to those present to meet him, Khattak apologised for his late arrival, adding that he had a special consideration for the people of Kohat. He approved many projects to ensure development of the area and improved facilities for locals.

The CM approved the construction of two high schools – one for girls and another for boys. He also announced the construction of a boys degree college in the area of Imtiaz Zahid Qureshi.

Khattak gave the green signal for Rs7 million to conduct a feasibility survey for a drinking water scheme along River Indus. According to Khattak, “We have learnt Shakardara has large gas and oil reserves. We will provide a gas and electricity connection to its residents on a priority basis.” He also approved another 35-kilometre-long road for the area.

He told the audience there was no space for complacent employees in government departments. Action would be taken against all officials who fail to attend to work in a punctual manner, said Khattak.
