FATA Budget Needs to be Increased for Development- Siraj ul Haq
SHABQADAR: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq addressed a public gathering in Mohmand Agency emphasizing budget of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) should be increased to expedite progress in the region.
Siraj spoke about the rights of tribespeople, saying they should be in charge of their fate. “The bureaucracy sitting in Islamabad does not have the right to make decisions for Fata; this should be done by the elders of the region.”
He said the people in the region have been through crucial times and should now have access to the same facilities as people in other parts of Pakistan have.
“Our rulers have divided the nation into classes,” he said, adding that this can be seen as those in Islamabad seldom face prolonged power outages while people of the tribal areas have perennial power issues.
He added that his party will make efforts to change the draconian laws that have been in force in Fata for years.
The JI chief also spoke about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Qaumi Watan Party coalition in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, developments on which have recently taken place.
He said no decisions were made by keeping JI in the dark. “CM Pervez Khattak has taken JI into confidence before the alliance was announced.”
