A Minor Died to include two others as Vehicle Plunges into Chitral River
PESHAWAR: At least three bodies, including that of a minor girl, were pulled out from Chitral River on Wednesday after a bus carrying as many as 20 people plunged into it near Baeech area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The pickup was travelling from Garam Chashma to Chitral and fell into the river at Baeech area, official sources informed media.
Further, two injured were pulled out with the help of local people and were shifted to a nearby hospital for provision of medical treatment.
Efforts are underway to recover the remaining people. However, the flow of water is reportedly creating hurdles in rescue activities.
Earlier in May, at least three tourists lost their lives when their car fell into the Kunhar River near Faridabad, some 15 kilometres from Balakot. Five tourists were in a car when it plunged into the river. Two of them were rescued and are in critical condition, while the bodies of the three other could not be retrieved.
“Rescue workers managed to retrieve two of the five victims while three are still missing and feared dead. Those rescued are Tanvir and Zeeshan Abbasi, while Akhlaq Abbasi, Danish Abbasi and Rahat Abbasi are still missing,” the police officer said.
