LEA Successfully Repulsed a Militant Attack in Kurram Agency
PESHAWAR: At least two militants were killed with five others injured on early Saturday when security forces repulsed a militant attack in Kurram Agency, Pak-Afghan border.
Unidentified militants initiated the attack on the security forces check-post after which two militants were killed in retaliatory firing. Five other suspected militants were injured in the crossfire and were arrested and moved to an unidentified place for further interrogation, officials said.
Officials at Parachanar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, confirmed the clash between security forces and militants in border region.
Earlier, a bomb hidden in a bag ripped through a crowded bazaar in a mainly Shia area of northwestern tribal region Sunday, killing at least 23 people and wounding more than 30.
Kurram Agency is at the frontline of Pakistan’s battle against an insurgency that began after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan forced Taliban and al Qaeda militants to flee across the border.
