14 People Burnt Alive
KARAK: Fourteen wedding guests travelling in a Hiace van were burnt alive on Sunday after the vehicle caught fire on the Indus Highway following a head-on collision with a Land Cruiser.
The van plunged into a ravine near Nashpa after the collision.
During the plunge it caught fire as its gas cylinder exploded, according to witnesses and police.
They said all 14 passengers — eight men, four women and two children — were burnt alive. Bodies of the victims were mutilated beyond recognition and their names could not be ascertained till late in the night.
Three people in the Land Cruiser also suffered injuries and were taken to the Karak district headquarters hospital.
Doctors termed their condition stable.
