PESHAWAR: Awami National Party urged residents of the provincial and other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to protest on Wednesday and denounce targeted attacks on its workers and law-enforcement officials. The rallies were held following the assassination of an ANP leader and former union council nazim Jamshed Ali Khan by militants at Teligram, Swat on April 11.

A large number of ANP workers, along with members of National Youth Organisation, took part in the procession which converted into a rally outside Peshawar Press Club. The protesters slammed the government, particularly PTI leaders who failed to curb targeted attacks on ANP leaders.

Speaking to participants, ANP Central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain condemned the target killings and termed them a “failure on the part of K-P government”. He said it was shocking to see how the chief minister and his aides were silent over 27 target killings.

Similar protests were held at Charsadda, Mingora, Swabi, Mardan and several other cities and towns of the province.
