Imran Khan summoned against misuse of party funds
ISLAMABAD: In a first case of its kind, the election authorities have summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to explain his position over a complaint regarding the misuse of party funds.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued notices to Imran and secretary general Jahangir Tareen on a petition filed by Akbar S Babar, who had alleged that PTI leadership misused funds.
Babar, a founding member of PTI, who later parted ways from Imran, had filed a petition with the ECP last year. The ECP has now issued notices to both parties to appear before the commission on February 23 at 10:00 am. The PTI leadership can appear in person, or send their counsel to defend themselves.
The PTI had denied the allegations when the petition was filed.
