Rs19.7m Recovered with 345 People Arrested
ISLAMABAD: In the advent of a fortnight Capital Police have arrrested 345 people, recovering from their possession valuables worth over Rs19.7 million, including stolen vehicles, weapons, liquor and narcotics.
As many as 54 people were rounded up for possessing illegal weapons and 42 pistols, four rifles, nine carbines and 346 rounds were recovered from them, a police spokesman said.
Likewise, 38 drug peddlers and bootleggers were held and 152 bottles of liquor, 17.3 kilogrammes of hashish, 1.5 kg heroin and 1.5 kg opium were recovered from them.
Around 31 auto-thieves were also nabbed and six vehicles and nine motorbikes recovered from them. Besides, 46 alleged thieves, 74 suspected robbers and 41 proclaimed offenders were arrested along with the recovery of valuables worth millions of rupees from them.
The police also took into custody 325 professional beggars, including 14 children who were later shifted to the child protection centre. During search operations in different parts of the city, 42 suspects were also detained.
Five illegal immigrants and six alleged extortionists were nabbed while 24 people were apprehended for their alleged involvement in immoral activities, the police said.
