(ADSJ) Tahir Khan's Murder was due Robbery and not Targeted
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police in a challan submitted in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday claimed that additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) Tahir Khan Niazi was killed during a robbery.
ADSJ Niazi was murdered on August 5 in a broad daylight at his house in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi.
In addition to other important cases, the judge had been hearing a murder case involving Imtiaz Khokhar alias Taji Khokhar, a brother of the former National Assembly deputy speaker Haji Nawaz Khokar. A decision by the court was expected by the end of August.
According to the police, Mr Niazi’s wife heard the doorbell at around 1:30pm. When she opened the door she found a stranger who forced his way into the house and snatched her mobile phone.
While Mr Niazi was trying to overpower the intruder, another man entered the house and shot him, injuring him critically.
According to the police, the accused were three. Two entered the house while the third one was waiting outside the house on a motorcycle on which they (the accused) escaped. They also took away Mrs Niazi’s mobile phone.
The Sadiqabad police traced the accused through the mobile phone and later arrested them.
As per the challan, all the accused were robbers and they killed the judge during the robbery.
The accused told the police that they selected the house of slain judge randomly.
As per the statement of the accused persons, which the police incorporated with the challan, the robbers learnt that they had killed the judge through the media.
