Facilitators to PAF Bus Bombing are Life Imprisoned by LHC
LAHORE: Two convicts, facilitators to suicide attack on an official Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bus in 2007, were sentenced to eight counts of life imprisonment each by a two-member bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday.
Omer Farooq and Mohsin alias Bugti were previously convicted by an Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Sargodha for facilitating the suicide bomber who rammed his motor cycle in the PAF bus, killing eight officials and injuring others. ATC Sargodha had sentenced the two facilitators to life imprisonment eight times (200 years) each.
Justice Abdul Sami Khan and Justice Sadaqat Ali presided over the case by dismissed the mercy appeals and reiterated ATC Sargodha's sentence with additional life imprisonment 'eight times' each.
The bus was carrying PAF staff from Mushaf Mir Airbase to Kirana Ammunition Depot when the bomber struck the bus at about 6:45 AM in Sargodha city.
Sources had said that 50 PAF personnel and civilians were in the bus which was badly damaged in the attack. The injured were taken to the PAF hospital and Combined Military Hospital.
