PTI couldn't Get Permission for Rally in Pindi
RAWALPINDI: The city government on Friday rejected PTI’s request for holding a rally in the city on December 1.
DCO Sajid Zafar Dall said that under the directives of ECP, the PTI chairman cannot address any public gathering or visit any union council till the completion of the election process. The elections are scheduled for Dec 5 in Pindi.
“We received a letter from PTI MPA Arif Abbasi, seeking permission for a rally which was a violation of the code of conduct.”
Under the ECP directives, parliamentarians and other public office holders cannot visit any UC/ward.
“Imran Khan, an MNA from NA-56, should not visit the garrison city as it is a clear violation of the ECP directives,” PML-N metropolitan president Sardar Naseem told Dawn.
When contacted, PTI MPA Arif Abbasi said Imran Khan would visit the city on December 1 despite the ban.
“NA-56 is Imran Khan’s constituency and he will visit the area to listen to the problems of the people,” he added.
