TTP Commander arrested from Lahore by CIA
LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and commander of Harkatul Mujahideen involved in alleged kidnapping of Inter-services Intelligence (ISI) Colonel (retd) Imran and Squadron Leader (retd) Khalid Khawaja, has been arrested by Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Thursday.
CIA termed the arrest as a major breakthrough to be identified as Hafiz Sanaullah alias Qari Zarar.
The suspect was arrested due an intellegence based raid at Lorry Adda, Lahore by CIA. During an interrogation Sanaullah had made some startling revelations of being involved in heinous crimes around Lahore and Rawalpindi, a police official said.
Sanaullah confessed that he kidnapped ISI's Col Imam, Col Khalid Khawaja, a journalist Asad Qureshi and his employee in collaboration with Punjabi Taliban, in the year 2009. They were taken to Waziristan to be slaughtered, lest the journalist and his employee was released against ransom of Rs.14 million from their families.
Sanaullah confession involved another kidnapping of a citizen of Islamabad in 2008, to be released against a ransom amount paid by his family of Rs.27 million.
There remain reports of another two security agency officals abduction, in 2001, by the culprit from Balochistan.
Sanaullah has been trained of militancy in Waziristan and Afghanistan, is a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, was made the Nazim of Harkatul Mujahideen in 1998 and then commander in 2000.
He had also been Nazim of central office of the banned organisation in Golra Sharif in 2005, and a close aide to its Amir.
