KARACHI: Three young picnickers were saved from being drowned at Karachi’s Paradise Point by the Edhi Foundation, while the search for a fourth person continues.

Edhi Foundation officials claimed to have rescued three young persons who were rushed to the hospital, while search for the fourth one is under way.

The youngsters along with their family had arrived Paradise Point for a picnic, officials said.

Although the government has put up warning signs at the beach, picnickers ignore them and jump into the rough sea.

Earlier, swimming or stepping into the sea in Karachi was banned for six months, keeping in view the tragedy that struck last year and claimed 40 lives.

“The ban has been imposed for six months from June till November due to the weather changes and high tides in the sea,” Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui had told The Express Tribune.

On June 13, two siblings drowned when they ventured into the sea near Hawkes Bay in Karachi.

The deceased were identified as 40-year-old Danish and 30-year-old Sadaf.
