Javed Nagori (PPP) Resigns from Ministry on Faryal's Order
KARACHI: PPP Minister for katchi abadi Javed Nagori resigned from the ministry on Friday after being ordered to do so by PPP MNA Faryal Talpur, officials reported.
Officials claimed that PPP wish to rid the party of Nagori and others who were nominated by defuct Peoples Aman Committee leader Uzair Baloch. “Two MPAs including Nagori and Sania Naz were given the party ticket on the recommendation of Uzair Baloch, who has now turned rival, which is why the PPP want to get rid of his people, too,” said a PPP leader from Lyari.
Some time ago, Nagori had expressed concern regarding the appointment of PPP Karachi division leaders, saying, “In Karachi, PPP only wins from Lyari, but no one consults us in appointing the Karachi division president and other office-bearers,” he had said. “It is the right of Lyari to get this coveted slot.”
When contacted, Nagori said that he was not ‘injected or nominated’ by Uzair Baloch in the party and is a ‘diehard worker’. “I have given sacrifices for the party,” he said. “Some elements attacked me and killed my brother when I organised a big public gathering in Lyari.”
Sources in the government said that Nagori was upset about the resignation and the chief minister told him, “I can give you a favour by not accepting your resignation today. You should go and settle your differences with Adi Faryal within 24 hours.” Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Talpur refuted the reports and said she has nothing to do with the affairs of the Sindh government.
Sources said that since Talpur returned from abroad and the reshuffle in portfolios took place, some ministers are unhappy with the departments assigned to them. They added that the portfolio of Nagori will be allotted to Sajjid Jokhio, an MPA from Malir. Further changes are likely to take place in the bureaucracy.
