PM Returned Without Addressing our Concerns - Farooq Sattar
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) parliamentary leader Farooq Sattar said the party never opposed the ongoing operation in Karachi but should be held in a transparent manner under the ambit of law.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters Nine Zero on Thursday, Sattar lamented that the premier did not address their concerns during his latest visit to the megalopolis, media reported.
The statement came hours after Prime Minister chaired a high level National Apex Committee meeting wherein he categorically declared that the operation in Karachi would not be halted ‘at any cost’.
During the meeting, he noted that the law and order situation in the city had improved and added that the operation will be continued ‘at all costs’.
“Who did the premier refer to when he said that the operation would not be stopped,” Sattar asked, adding, “Prime Minister returned without answering our constitutional questions.”
“Rule of law should be adhered to during the operation in Karachi,” he stressed.
Sattar also said that his party enjoyed 80 per cent mandate of the province’s urban areas.
The press conference witnessed a brief disturbance as heavy contingents of Rangers patrolling the streets adjacent to Nine Zero.
