Police Claims Encounter, Family Assert Extra-Judicial Killing of ex-MQM Activist
HYDERABAD: A political activist disowned by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in recent years was shot dead in what the police described as an encounter with three suspects on Monday.
The family of Raziuddin, however, contested the SITE police claim saying that he was picked up by personnel of a law enforcement agency on Thursday night in Latifabad Unit No.5.
Police said that the suspect was wanted in several cases of murder, attempted murder, targeted killing and police encounters. Police tried to arrest him on seeing him with two other suspects but they fired on the police team.
In the ensuing encounter, Raziuddin was killed but his companions escaped, the police said.
The police said that Raziuddin, along with Zeeshan aka Shani and Fayyaz Kashmiri, was nominated in the 2012 murder case of Faraz Adil aka Tipu, whose body was found dumped near a sewerage disposal installation in Latifabad Unit-11.
