PPP Being Targeted In The name of Corruption - CM Slams Agencies
KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said Sindh is “under attack and the PPP is being targeted in the name of corruption as if everything was okay elsewhere [in other provinces]”.
This he said while talking to the media after visiting senior vice president of the Pakistan Peoples Party Makhdoom Amin Fahim in a private hospital here on Monday.
In reply to a question, the chief minister said Makhdoom Amin Fahim “is a great political personality of the country and a thoroughly loving person. I have the honour of having a good relationship with his father also,” he said. “Keeping in view his health, the court should postpone the hearing of his case for two months”.
He said that a few months back he had said at the Federation House that Sindh was under attack. “It is invasions by different agencies and now it has proved that our government, our ministers, officers and our party leaders have been targeted in the name of corruption,” he said. “I am sorry to say it is aimed at maligning us.”
The chief minister said the PPP had a long history of facing such conspiracies. “The PPP is a secular political force that’s why it has always been targeted,” he said. “If secular forces are sidelined then extremists would fill the gap and it would be dangerous for the people and the country.”
He said that despite “invasion and attacks”, his government was working for the betterment of the people of the province. “Insha Allah, we will succeed in steering the people of the province out of poverty, illiteracy and ignorance,” he said.
Bilawal visits PPP leader in hospital
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday met the ailing party leader and former federal minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim in a local hospital and inquired after his health, said a statement.
“Makhdoom Amin Fahim hugged and kissed Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on forehead and held his hand throughout the meeting for an hour,” said the Bilawal House statement.
The PPP chairman, it said, lauded the sacrifices and contribution of Mr Fahim, who worked with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
“I, myself, and the party is in great need of the experience of Makhdoom Amin Fahim,” the statement quoted Mr Bhutto-Zardari as saying. “During the visit, chairman Bilawal was accompanied by former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former ambassador to the United States Senator Sherry Rehman, Jameel Soomro, Khanzada Khan and other senior leaders.”
