KARACHI- Ex-servicemen, who joined the police force to combat terrorism in city sensitive areas, staged a protest over delay in release of their salaries at Central Police Office here on Wednesday.

Sindh police have had recruited around 1,200 retired armed forces personnel for the post of constables last year and posted them to highly sensitive police station including the police station of District West dominated militant outfits and areas of Lyari to curb the gang war.

The ex-servicemen gathered outside the Central Police Office (CPO) and staged a protest which caused a traffic jam on I.I. Chundrigar Road. They claimed that the police department has not released their salaries for around eight months. Following their protests, police high-ups came out of the CPO and assured them of their full cooperation.

The protesters, however, ended their protests upon IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali assurance of salaries to be issued in two weeks.
