Dr Asim Suffers Depression | Admitted in Psychiatry | Court Adjourns Hearing
KARACHI: Dr Asim Hussain is suffering from major depression and has been admitted in the department of psychiatry, at Jinnah Hospital, jail officials told the court on Saturday.
Former Petroleum Minister Dr Asim arrested in corruption case could not be presented in the Accountability Court (AC) being sick.
The AC took up Dr Asim Hussain corruption case Saturday for hearing. Jail authorities filed a medical report in the court in respect of Dr Asim Hussain and court was told that Dr Asim Hussain was seriously ill and he was being provided medical treatment, therefore, he could not be presented in the court.
The court, while accepting the plea for exempting Dr Asim for one day from appearing in the court, adjourned the hearing of the case till March, 17.
Jail officials said that Dr Asim had been complaining of breathing difficulties and anxiety for the past few days and so did not appear in the court.
A medical certificate for Dr Asim was submitted in the court.
Meanwhile NAB submitted a second reference against Dr Asim Hussain accusing him of a Rs70 billion scam.
