Great News for Builders! Gas Restriction Lifted from High-Rise Buildings
KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd (SSGCL) and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) on Monday lifted the gas moratorium on high-rise residential buildings on the directives of Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The companies will begin providing gas connections from Tuesday (today) throughout the country on the basis of seniority of applications, Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) claimed.
Builders have been demanding gas connections to high-rise buildings for the last five years.
Around 380 buildings across the country are without gas, out of which more than 80 per cent are in Karachi.
Lack of gas connections has forced the purchasers to use more expensive and dangerous liquefied petroleum gas (LPGs).
ABAD Chairman Hanif Gohar also urged the government to allow gas connections to housing societies developed by builders. SSGC Managing Director Khalid Rehman endorsed the suggestion and assured gas connections to these societies soon.
