MQMs Candidate to step down in JI's favor - Siraj
KARACHI: Siraj ul Haq, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief, has suggested Altaf Hussain, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief to withdraw his by-elections' party candidate for Karachi’s NA-246 constituency in JI's favour.
"Election to replace selection" were his words while addressing a gathering called in by JI on Sunday evening at Shahra-e-Pakistan, Karachi. He explained that people should take the power in their hands by casting their votes to the right candidate otherwise those that impose anarchy in the city will prevail.
Siraj alleged the MQM's chief of patronizing extortion, target killing and abduction in the city, emphasizing that the cats out of the bag with masses aware only JI can bring peace to the city ending the rule of suppression. He mocked that US nor Britain has the power to save MQM from its defeat in NA-246.
The JI chief said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be responsible if any “irrelevant or mischievous” person was found in the polling stations on the election day.
Earlier, party’s candidate for NA-246 by-elections and JI’s Naib Amir Karachi Rashid Naseem, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and Muhammad Hussain Mehanti addressed the workers.
Both the MQM and JI have been running vigorous campaigns to claim the support of the masses in NA-246.
PTI, another contestant, has also been closely involved in drawing support from the masses with their effective electioneering.
The NA-246 seat fell vacant after Nabil Gabol, who was elected on a MQM ticket in the 2013 general elections, resigned from his seat after developing differences with the party.
