Rao Anwar Convoy Attacked: Killed 5 Militants in Retaliation
Karachi: Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar escaped a cracker attack on his convoy to follow intense cross fire between the forces and militants on Saturday in Malir area of Karachi.
As reports, assailants hurled a cracker at Anwar’s convoy at Link Road. Reports further suggested there was an exchange of fire between the assailants and Anwar’s security guards leaving 5 Militants killed while capturing two of their vehicles.
Anwar suggests that evidences indicate involvement of a proscribed group in the attack.
Anwar is said to have escaped the attack as his car was bullet-proof. Though 5 killed, some assailants managed to flee the scene of crime.
SSP Malir Rao Anwar was suspended on Thursday, hours after he had alleged in a press briefing that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) maintains connections with India’s spy agency RAW.
SSP Rao had presented two alleged terrorists who he claimed belonged to the MQM. The official further claimed that the MQM was actively working against Pakistan.
“Key MQM leaders have connections with RAW,” he said, adding that the arrested MQM workers had received training from India’s spy agency RAW.
The SSP said he had evidence to support his claims, including their passports and their statements.
