KARACHI: Sindh High Court directed a public interest litigant on Thursday to submit details of people allegedly killed in fake encounters carried out by Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwar in Karachi.

Anwar was suspended on April 30 after alleging in a press briefing that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) maintains connections with India’s spy agency RAW.

Petitioner, Rana Faizul Hasan, was asked by the judges to give details to prove his allegations against the SSP.

A two-judge bench is expected to examine the allegations in the next hearing of the case.

On May 2, Anwar had also escaped a hand grenade attack in the Malir neighbourhood of Karachi and remained unhurt.

SSP Anwar had presented two alleged terrorists who he claimed belonged to the MQM. The official further claimed that the MQM was actively working against Pakistan.

“Key MQM leaders have connections with RAW,” he said, adding that the arrested MQM workers had received training from India’s spy agency RAW.

The SSP said he had evidence to support his claims, including their passports and their statements.
