Sri Lanka were 178 for three in their first innings at stumps on the scheduled second day of the rain-hit first Test against Pakistan in Galle on Thursday.

Opener Kaushal Silva remained unbeaten on 80 and Kumar Sangakkara made 50, the pair sharing a second wicket stand of 112 runs after Pakistan's captain Misbah-ul Haq won the toss and elected to field

The entire first day's play was washed out on Wednesday and the second day produced just 64 overs after the start was delayed by two hours due to a wet outfield.
