Umar Akmal was Drunk when I slapped him - Model Rachel Khan

LAHORE: Pakistani Model / Host Rachel Khan alleged slapping Star Cricker Umar Akmal during an event held in Norway. This comes amid Umar facing charges of indiscipline and disrupting peace while attending a dance party in Hyderabad.

The controversy is already heated with varied statements coming in, when Police took Umar Akmal into custody on Thursday from a private dance in Hyderabad.

Police earlier confirmed that they had took Umar to the station, later to deny of any charges applied on Umar. SSP Hyderabad Irfan Ali Baloch confirmed that police has rounded up 3 men and two women from the party to include Umar Akmal.

SHO Haq Nawaz on the other hand who raided the party denied presence of any women on the premise.

The mystery surrounding batsman Umar Akmal’s involvement in a dance party deepened further as the cricketer and his friends denied attending any such activity.

However, a local news channel has obtained a photo featuring the cricketer and his friends – an undeniable evidence in the scandal.

The photo shows Umar Akmal, a Hyderabad-based cricketer Azim Ghumman, an advocate Irfan Malik and SHO Haq Nawaz sitting together.

As the scandal surfaced, Akmal was issued a show-cause notice by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on disciplinary grounds.

He was dropped from squad for three-match Twenty20 series against England.

It is understood that Akmal attended a party in Hyderabad without the requisite permission during the current Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Hyderabad and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan says Umar would be given an opportunity to clarify his actions.

"There should be an inquiry and Umar will be given an opportunity and after that we will take action," Khan told media. "He is suspended and was not included in the team before we make a decision

Meanwhile Former Pakistan middle-order batsman Basit Ali has defended Umar Akmal, saying the latter was innocent until proven guilty.

In August 2015, during a celebrity event "Play for Peace" in Oslo, Norway, Umar Akmal was slapped by a Model from Pakistan due to disrespect.

Play for Peace, a star studded Cricket Match was held at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway attended by celebrities from Pakistan & India along with cricketers from both the nations. Some of the celebrities spotted at Play for Peace Cricket match were Mahima Chaudry from Bollywood, Crickter Younis Khan Umar Akmal from Pakistan, Sanath Jaysuriya from Srilanka, actress Fiza Ali & model/host Rachel Khan.


The match was followed by a musical program. Umar has been accused of drinking during the same and disrupting the event.

In a heated exchange of words and unethical gestures, Model Rachel Khan retaliated with a slap on Umar Akmals face with him falling on the floor. Later the management removed Umar from the scene.

During the match, he was bowled by Isma a female Bowler which added to his dismay during his trip.

Earlier on Feb 01, 2014, Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal was arrested for allegedly thrashing a traffic warden and tearing his uniform after he was stopped for violating a signal.

Akmal was taken to the police station and was charged under sections 186, 279 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code (for obstructing in the official work, tearing police uniform, and misbehaving and hurling threats) was registered against him.
